| Single Dose Mg/Min Mg/Kg/Min Dose From Rate Titration |
We've talked about simple IV drips, the one's where a pt. gets fluids at a constant rate - XX cc / hr. The examples in this section, involve administering IV medications.
-
Single dose - where we give XX mg over YY min (loading dose / bolus).
-
Continuous doses (drips) - where we give XX mg / unit of time.
-
Continuous doses by weight and time - XX mg / KG / Unit of time.
-
Titration - the techniques for adjusting medication rates (as in 2 & 3 above) based on a patient response to the medication.
