We've talked about simple IV drips, the one's where a pt. gets fluids at a constant rate - XX cc / hr.  The examples in this section, involve administering IV medications.

  1. Single dose - where we give XX mg over YY min (loading dose / bolus).

  2. Continuous doses (drips) - where we give  XX mg / unit of time.

  3. Continuous doses by weight and time - XX mg /  KG / Unit of time.

  4. Titration - the techniques for adjusting medication rates (as in 2 & 3 above) based on a patient response to the medication.
