Nursing Math doesn't have to be difficult. Yet I'm surprised at how often I see coworkers get bogged down when dosages and rates have to actually be "figured". The difficulty seems more related to thinking the problem through rather than with math skills.
This has inspired me to present the problem solving techniques on the following pages. All the solutions are based on use of a single "formula" and the use of what nursing calls dimensional analysis to Think a problem through. Dimensional analysis is also called the factor-label method in the physical sciences such as chemistry and physics.
I like this method because I hate to memorize! And this method requires very little of that. This isn't a method that everyone finds useful. If you are one of the folk that work best thinking on your feet rather than memorizing, you may find these pages helpful.
Printing these pages: Set your browser to NOT print background or images. In Page Setup, choose Page Orientation = Landscape.Internet Explorer, use Tool Menu > Internet Options > Advanced - scroll down the list & remove the check from print background
Then File Menu > Page Setup - select Landscape from the Orientation box.
Netscape - it depends on the version, but you have to set orientation from your printer's options rather than the browsers, and I cannot see how you turn off printing backgrounds in NS6.x! In NS4.7 you can turn off printing background from File menu > Page Setup.
