Know Issues
- Error Optimizing Media File but "slide_show_name.log" has no file name in it, only a Folder name. RPWiz is mistakenly reporting an error. This occurs when the first time a New slide show is made that optimizes JPG files and has NO audio. If Make Slide Show is clicked a second time, no error is reported. Work around: Ignore this error report. The next update of RPWiz fixes this false error message.
- midi / mp3 files in Netscape may not play correctly even with Crescendo midi
/mp3 plugin installed. No FIX at this time - I will provide
information as it becomes available. Note: this seems to occur most frequently
when there are multiple plugins for a file type / mine type "midi". e.g., if there are 2
or more midi plugins installed (Netscape > Help > About Plugins). Removing the "extra"
plugin(s) may correct the problem.
How?
1) View the plugin list as
described above and write a list of the plugin file names for the midi file type
2) Browse to the
Netscape/Program/Plugin Folder
3) Except for the midi plugin you wish to keep (Crescendo is suggested as it
plays midi & mp3 files)
rename the file by placing an underscore
"_" before the dll extension e.g., npqtplugin.dll >>
npquplugin._dll
To restore the plugin, return the file to it's original name
by removing the underscore.
- images do not appear in Netscape - Netscape was distributed with 2 versions of the Java Runtime. The Applets require version 1.1 which was officially distributed beginning with ver 4.6 Earlier versions may or may not have version 1.1 installed. Fix: The Java update may be installed with Netscape's Auto Update for browsers 4.5 or greater. A manually installable update is available for some earlier versions at http://developer.netscape.com/software/jdk/download.html
- audio files not playing on some computers. This can occur because of missing codecs (compression-decompression algorithms used by audio & video files) on the destination computer. FIX: Install current versions of Windows Media Player and / or Quick Time and /or Real Player .
- background audio files do not stop at end of show when played in browser. Work around: click the Stop button on the media player in the browser window or close the browser window.
- When using the QuickTime Browser plugin audio may not be in sync with photos. On some computers, QuickTime seems to take a long time to 'load'. When this happens, the first photo may already be showing before the audio begins resulting the the audio & photo being out of sync. Work around: After the Show has loaded in the Browser, Click the Browsers "Refresh" or "Reload" button.
